Scotscraig is perfectly placed to explore Fife, whether it be St Andrews to see the Castle, Cathedral, Harbour, University, Aquarium, Botanic Gardens, Golf Courses, Museums, Churches, Lade Braes woodland walks, East and West Sands (made famous in the Chariots of Fire film), all the wonderful tea rooms, cafés, restaurants, and the famous Janetta's ice cream parlour - don't forget either the sweet shop called Burns for a tempting piece of Scottish Tablet!!...oooh, and also Fisher & Donaldsons (Bakers) for a fudge doughnut!!!
Leaving St Andrews why not explore the East Neuk fishing villages and take in a boat trip to the Isle of May nature reserve, Falkland Palace, Secret Bunker, Kellie Castle, the Coastal Paths or even take a trip up to Perth or the train from Leuchars Rail Station (6 mins. away) into Edinburgh (which takes approx. 1 hr).
Locally in Strathkinness, we have an excellent local pub called 'The Tavern' - which serves evening meals and is in walking distance so you can relax and enjoy a drink after your long journey safely. Have a look at the menu by clicking on strathkinnesstavern.co.uk. We also have a village shop/post office (3 houses away) which sells fresh morning rolls, newspapers, sweets and local produce.
Lucy, our retriever has several walks to tell you about - her favourite (and ours!) is up to the top of the village and you can see the Eden Estuary, St Andrews, and up the coast to Carnoustie and beyond - there are benches too. (We'll even lend you our binoculars.)
